Support Internet Explorer

On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7. In addition, the company has announced that it advises other companies not to use Internet Explorer 11 (the latest version of IE) from this date on. Officially, it will not be possible only with the end of support on Windows 10 (in 2025) but for compatibility and security reasons, Microsoft itself decided to set an earlier end date.

You can read more about this on https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-IT-Pro-Blog/The-perils-of-using-Internet-Explorer-as-your-default-browser/ba-p/331732

What does this mean for using Minddistrict in Internet Explorer?

Minddistrict strives for optimal operation and security of the product. Unfortunately, based in Microsoft's notification, we cannot guarantee flawless operation for future releases. Our advice is to switch to another browser for using Minddistrict (e.g. Edge, Chrome or Firefox).

Video calls further improved

Video calling via the new web integration has been improved further.

User support when camera/microphone is blocked

When using video calling, the user must give the Minddistrict application permission to access the camera and microphone of his or her device. Without this access, video calling does not work. However, users frequently reject this request for access (out of fear or as an automatic reaction). Once the access is blocked in the browser, it's difficult for many users to lift this blockage. From now on, we'll guide the user when giving this permission within the function by:

  1. informing users carefully about what exactly they need to give permission for (figure 1);
  2. explaining to users who still choose to block the camera and/or microphone how to fix it (figure 2).

Figure 2: support for giving permission, if it has been denied before

Layout of buttons for users who are color blind

The buttons to accept or reject a video call were not user-friendly for users who are color blind. We're going to improve this by using new icons.

An incoming call with new icons

Busy status: one call at a time

In the past, it was possible to call someone who was already talking to someone else. It was also possible to have multiple video conversations at the same time. This was undesirable and the operation has, therefore, been adjusted. New situation:

  • Are you already talking to someone and is someone else calling you? Then you'll get a message in your conversations that you have a missed call (see image below).
  • Are you calling someone who's already talking? Then you'll get a notification about this.

A missed video call

Video calling via Vidyo finally disabled

In the course of January, we will completely switch to our newly integrated video calling solution. Video calls via Vidyo will be disabled. Haven't you switched yet? Please contact your account manager or Minddistrict Service desk as soon as possible.

Email and task for therapist when client completes screening

When a client sent a screening sent a screening in the past, the therapist did not receive a task nor a notification email. The reason for this was that, in principle, there was no (feedback) task. Based on experience from practice, we will change this now: if the client sends the screening, the accompanying therapist will receive a task and a notification email.

Platform logo display in automated emails improved

In some Outlook based email clients (for example, the built-in Windows 10 Mail application), the platform logo in the automated emails was shown greatly enlarged. This has been improved.

'Last use' becomes 'last time online'

In the client's dashboard, a therapist can see when a client used Minddistrict last. In the old situation, this was called 'last use'. In order to avoid any associations or confusions regarding substance use, we will change this term to 'last time online'.

Technical Changes

Rest API: external_source attribute

Until now, the representation for clients and therapists did not contain an external_source attribute. This has changed. Also, this attribute can now be added as an optional field in the (REST-API) export.

Rest API: endpoint for various logs

The following logs have been added as endpoints to the REST API:

  • Temporary access
  • HL7
  • Koppeltaal

The technical documentation about the REST API will be updated with these new features during the release on January 10.
